Light Gauge Structural Systems
Comprising of cold-formed cee, zee, angle, and special shape members, these 100% U.S. fabricated items make up approximately half of the total structural system for Monumental Steel Buildings. The secondary system for Monumental Steel Buildings includes girts, purlins, door jambs, headers, and eave struts, available in various web and flange depths. The standard G-90 galvanized 12, 14, and 16 gauge products used in the construction of Monumental Steel Buildings meet the demanding needs of buildings used in harsh marine and other corrosive environments. With almost one ounce of zinc covering every square foot of steel, G-90 is two-thirds thicker than the more common G-30 products used in the industry.
Monumental Steel Buildings’ design and fabrication standards call for a 1/16th inch tolerance for hole locations and a 1/8” tolerance for overall length, camber, and twist. To ensure the longevity of our material and workmanship warranty, we never weld on our galvanized members as welding damages the anti-corrosive properties of the zinc coating around the welds. Instead, we pre-punch every connection to the tightest tolerances and provide all necessary hardware for installation.
In addition to superior performance, Monumental Steel Buildings’ secondary structural system also offers an attractive appearance. Unlike the industry standard secondaries, which are coated in red primer and lack anti-corrosive properties, our girts, purlins, base angles, and other secondary framing pieces are made of galvanized steel that won’t conceal problem areas or rust. This makes areas in need of maintenance easy to identify for the life of the building.
